Attention Military Families:
Are you a military family member? A veteran or a spouse? A parent or sibling or caregiver of a wounded warrior? Are you the child of a veteran? Guard or Reserve?
We are looking for your stories about how you are dealing with the challenges of reintegration after deployment or after retirement/separation–especially from those families navigating PTSD or other war wounds.
There is so much focus on and help for military families during their service years, but the number of retired or separated veterans is growing and so are the challenges those veterans and family members face when they’ve said goodbye to the military life. Once families have concluded their military service, they often feel alone and overwhelmed by trying to navigate unfamiliar territory. Your stories will help.
We are looking for stories of:
- Your challenges and triumphs
- Perseverance
- How you cope with illness and injury after war
- How you are getting along (or not) in the civilian world
- How you are rising up to meet the new challenges that you face
We especially want to know:
- How are you finding medical care?
- Have you found peer support?
- How are you getting employment?
- How are family members dealing with the change?
These stories ARE NOT an outlet for your anger or frustration. They need to have some kind of a message or take away. We understand that many stories won’t have happy endings, but they must contain some kind of meaning or lesson that will be helpful for others. Answer questions like: Where did you find resources? Who helped you? What did you learn? How are you holding up? How do you persevere?
